    Description

    Up for auction is a gorgeous and rare Islamic Turkish Ottoman silk embroidered scarf.  I thought it might be a handkerchief but on second thought, the flowers are cut work and probably make it difficult to use as a handkerchief.  The piece is quite old and quite beautiful.  Some of the threads are metallic and some are gold.  The edges are hand rolled and have an intricate metallic thread edging.  I believe it is from the early 1800's, but I am no expert on the matter.  The piece measures 11" x 12".
