    It is sai, a weapon used in karate. It was given to me a long time ago. It was made by hand, so I don't think it is for sale. It is a very nice item. Size Total length is about 47cm Width about 13cm Weight approx. 800g
    Sai is said to have been carried by police chiefs and detectives during the Ryukyu Kingdom era and used to arrest criminals and guide crowds.  It is used by techniques such as hitting, poking, receiving, hooking, and throwing.
    The origin of Sai is not clear, but there is a theory that it was transmitted to Ryukyu and became Sai because there is a similar weapon called Hikasa in China.  Chinese brush swords were used as self-defense tools for farmers in the south.
    In Ryukyu ancient martial arts, sai are basically used in pairs, and are handled by holding them in the left and right hands.  Many of them are shaped like Jitte, but some of them are called swastika-shaped manji-sai.  It is often mistaken for Jitte from the appearance.
