Smaller Advent Loudspeakers-early version (restored-,new surrounds, new grills)

Description

Up for listing is a pair of vintage "Smaller Advent" Loudspeakers designed by famed loudspeaker voicer Henry Kloss in the late 1960's/early 1970's. This pair was one of the earlier productions which included the green "fried egg" tweeters, masonite ring on the woofers, and insulation used for dampening instead of foam. I had to replace one of the tweeters with another "green" one, and I also replaced a blown woofer with a later version with a pressboard ring but the same cone and "spitwad" dust cap. I replaced the foam surrounds on both woofers with fresh new ones supplied by Rick Cobb. These loudspeakers  were the "kid brother" of the original famed "Advent Loudspeaker" which is considered one of the Audiophile magazine's 100 best speakers ever made due to it's accurate reproduction of all frequencies and its very deep bass response. The Smaller Advents were designed to deliver the same accuracy (with about -2/db bass) in a smaller cabinet a a reduced cost which made it appeal to the more budget minded audio customer.
I have re-foamed woofers on many Advent Loudspeakers in the past and I purchased this pair of Smaller Advents online. They were dirty, the woofer surrounds were gone, and the speaker grills were torn. I tested the voice coils on the woofers and tweeters and one of each were blown, so I found replacements. I removed the drivers and checked the capacitors on the crossovers and they were good. I removed the torn grill fabric from both.
I re-foamed the woofers using a kit supplied for this speaker system. The dust caps are unique so I did not remove them, and I used a 30 hz pulse tone to center the voice coils. I have reproduction grill cloth from an online fabric supply store and used the original Advent badges on them. I cleaned the cabinets up and repaired some dings. There are still a few dings, especially around the corners. I then hooked the speakers up to my 100 watt/channel system and turned on some rock from Sirius XM satellite radio. The sound was great, even as I cranked up the volume!. They really sound good with great bass response.
