  • Condition: . The ruby stain is in nice condition and the color and clarity of the clear glass is excellent. There is some cloudiness in the cruet but due to the ruby stain you must turn it upside down to see it. The inside neck is ground and so is the bottom of the stopper. The stopper has damage in the form of a diagonal crack in the portion between the faceted top and the ground bottom. There are some pinpricks and tiny scratches to the ruyby stain.

    Description

    Vinegar/Oil cruet ruby stained McKee #400 series Non-Flint McKee & Brothers, Jeanette, PA. circa 1901. The glass is clear and any colors you see in the photographs are reflections from indoors where I photographed the piece.
    The glass has the mold marks and straw marks and bubbles common in this era of glassware.
    The ruby stain is in nice condition and the color and clarity of the clear glass is excellent. There is some cloudiness in the cruet but due to the ruby stain you must turn it upside down to see it. The inside neck is ground and so is the bottom of the stopper. The stopper has damage in the form of a diagonal crack in the portion between the faceted top and the ground bottom.
    This is the original stopper. This cruet is pictured in William Heacock’s book Encyclopedia of Victorian Colored Pattern Glass Book 6 Oil Cruets from A to Z. Page 75.
