    Description

This sale is for an original* Quad set of four Jensen 1959 P10R Speakers that came from a 1959 Bassman Amp. They were all re-coned together approx. 2003 at Orange County Speaker in Southern California. The photos are accurate and they are in very good to excellent condition. I am posting these as an opportunity for someone, before I put them into my April 1959 Tweed Bassman that is going up for sale. These 4 speakers come as shown in photo NOT with cables. I included one view from from my last replica/clone Bassman amp I had them in to help show the set in an amp. Amp not for sale, this is for set of 4 speakers only.
*Please note the date codes, I am sharing this as backstory information to the best of my ability to determine that although they do not match each other I do believe they left the Fender Fullerton factory (see red UL sticker on Bell as can be found on speakers that came in original Fender Amps from that factory) in one amp. My history with these speakers: I play harmonica, 45 years and was full-time pro by age 20. I have owned about 9 original Tweed Bassman Amps, about 5 great replicas built with various part vintage/part new parts, several other brand 4" x 10" Bassman Style replicas.
I purchased a 1959 Tweed Bassman in approx. 2003 that contained these speakers. The amp was 100% original electronics, not even a single changed cap and the chassis looked absolutely new. The cabinet was perfect BUT for some reason Tweed had been changed, I believe by Sam Hutton since it was perfectly done. These speakers, the cables, etc. were clean as you see in these pics and all 4 freshly re-coned at OC Speaker. Cannot figure how speakers could have needed reconing or tweed done since the amp inside and chassis were perfect, not even dust. Even though the dates/codes do not all match I have had other Bassmans like this but the color, patina, marks on frames from being in/out all just match so perfectly I am 99% sure this quad was fully intact since new in 1959. If you know the old OC Speaker re-conning there were known as one of the best. They sound great. I actually sold this quad about 2004 since I wanted P10Qs in that amp, what I typically prefer to gig with. I later retrieved them and bought back. My current amp has P10Q/P10R set but, this set is going in there for sale. The amp is original except upgraded PIO caps and was re-tweeded about 25 years ago, except top back panel is original tweed. It is one of the top 3 Bassmans I have owned for strength, tone, etc.
When the speakers go into amp I will make a note of that so speakers could still be bought prior to amp sale. If amp sells first then of course the speakers are no longer for sale.
I also have a Triad 45249 Output transformer going up, it was in a 1960 Concert amp I had about 20 years ago and was pulled to be used in testing for a line of Bassman replica amps. It works perfectly.
